I draw my first pigeon in 2017, as a sign of protestation against some politics. Then it turned out into something deeper. For me, pigeons represent both the struggle to live in big cities, and the rebellion. Pigeons we see in the cities are here because of us. They were farmed animals and they escaped from human control. Now, modern societies try to eradicate pigeons but they can’t. All the attempts to reduce pigeon population in cities have failed (and some of these attempts are pretty violent). Each time, pigeons multiply very quickly by survival instinct. The laws about pigeons are pretty blurry : you can’t domesticate it, it’s forbidden to eat it or to kill it. We have to live with them. They are here because of us and now we want to get rid of them…
